We are thrilled to work with your fourth grade child!

     This is an overview of our fourth grade program.  The most important goal is that each of the students will continue making progress toward becoming motivated self-directed and lifelong learners.  We are excited to have the chance to work with each student.  In reading, we use the Open Court reading series and trade books at various times throughout the year.  We hope students will become strong, fluent readers and develop a love for reading.  We use the John Collins Writing Program, Harcourt and Six Traits Writing Program.  This is a skill based writing program with five basic types of writing.  The children will be working with the math Trailblazers Program.  It is expected that fourth graders should have already mastered their addition and subtraction facts through 18.  We practice these daily with Rocket Math.  Units to be covered in science include:  states of matter, habitats, energy and conservation, magnets, electricity, human body systems, earth science and geology.  The Social Studies Program emphasizes geography of the United States and map skills.  We will also study New Hampshire history and geography.

Grading Procedures: Report cards go home each trimester - November, March, and June. The marking code is:

A = 90-100/ Excellent Quality

B = 80-89/ High Quality

C = 70-79/ Satisfactory

D = 60-69/ Needs Improvement

U = Unable to grade - see comment
