20th is a teacher workshop day so the kids will not
have school.

Residence Performance April 9th
·
Math 
This week we
are continuing to work on subtraction involving borrowing. We
are using manipulatives and doing some anchor activities plus
our math book.
·
Reading 
We are
continuing to read about dinos and fossils this week with a
story entitled “Why Did The Dinosaurs Disappear?” We are also
working on cause and effect, fact and opinion and comprehension
skills.
·
Writing
We are
continuing to write various types of letters this week. We are
writing friendly letters, business letters, postcards,
addresses, cards and invitations.·
Science 
We will
finish up learning about rocks& minerals and move on to study
fossils. We have learned about metamorphic, igneous, and
sedimentary rocks. We have walked through the rock cycle and
colored in a paper about it. We have done some rock experiments
and made some of our own rocks. We have sorted rocks into
categories and tried to figure out properties of specific
rocks. It has been very interesting.
   
Last week we
met with the artist-in –residence and began writing a storyboard
for our puppet story. We picked out parts and we also worked
with Mrs. Swain on our puppets. We paper- mached the heads and
picked out cloth for the bodies. Next week we will work some
more on them.
